Right, so for this hack you will need a 500 ml coke bottle
Unwashed, new dusty aquarium gravel, and a tank full of water.

Suppose we all did setup a tank before with new stones before and end up with milky water for a day or 2.

    Well, it wont happen again.

Fill bottle with gravel till below the coke label.

Submerge the bottle in the water and let it fill up with water.

While keeping the bottle under water, turn it over and throw the substrate out, and quickly turn the bottle back to normal upright position...

Now you are left with a,500 ml bottle full of milky water, and clean stones in aquarium...

Tried and tested. I saw it being done infront of my eyes, and wish i knew this since day 1 that i started fish keeping.

    Please do spread the word.

Its a great DIY but I must be honest, I like to wash my gravel/pfs and throw the dirty water away before throwing in the tank just in case there are any nasties....
In fact I use salt in the last rinse.. maybe Im just paranoid

I have to see this too...

Having used garden soil, PFS, flourite and a host of others I have never managed to avoid a catastrophic mess, even with extensive cleaning. Would love it if this works.
