As promised here are a couple of shots of Tiny, my Jaguar chichlid. She is probably about 15-18cm now and very aggressive. Tried the rocks as a substrate because she tends to throw all sand into one corner of the tank. I have since gone back to sand because the rocks seemed to attract algae. Enjoy!

Yeah nearly impossible to get a pic of her from the side coz she is always staring you down and flaring her gills

I have a really mean community, I don't think a jag would make any trouble in the tank :) if a 15-18cm one was introduced

I got her from Sams aquarium in Northern Suburbs. I don't know if all jags are the same but if they are I wouldn't advise keeping one in a community tank. When I bought her she was about 8-10cm and she nearly killed my oscar after about 2 days in the tank. Haven't managed to get any other fish in there because of her aggression. Tried a catfish because I thought she wouldn't mind a bottom feeder but she would sit at the cave entrance and wait for the poor thing to come out. She got into the cave once and tore the catfish to pieces so I nursed it back to health and then gave him away.

We also had trouble identifying her sex but she spawned about 3 weeks after entering this tank so that settled the dispute ha ha. She has bit me once while I was cleaning the tank but does seem to be becoming less afraid of my hand.

Yep, wants the entire tank to herself.

She sounds like a real mean one, I got one awhile ago and had it in a 500l tank with some synspilliums and decans and small flowerhorns and one day I came home and the jag was no where to be found, I have a feeling my texas chowed it :(.... I have a friend with one about 12 cm now, which is soon going to get a bit to big for his tank and hopefully I can take custody and put her in my 1000l (she seems to be a very well behaved jag tho)

Well its a huge tank so hopefully she will claim one section of the tank and leave the other fish at peace for the most part. Let us know how it goes!

power female there then man, i have never had a female that well colored congrats
get a big tank and find a male man, i have always found females central Americans to be rare as they normally smaller and normally get killed buy over eager males.
So you done the hard part already with the fish lotto
