Tinfoil loosing his skin.

I have a tinfoil that has started shedding.
Looks like when you have tanned too much and the skin is peeling off.

This was very quick, as he did not have it last night when I did a waterchange.


The spots by the cardual fin are just spots at the moment.
The loose skin is just above the mouth.

He also tends to swoop and swim sideways close to the ground.
This is occasioinal, and his behaviour is otherwise normal.

What you are seeing are individual scales that the fish has lost and now he seems to have some fungal infections there. He could have lost these scales when bashing at the rocks or other ornaments in the tank, perhaps during the water change? I would not suggest any treatment as tinfoils are very tough. All I would do is to add a heaped tablespoon of salt per 100 litres as a mild antibacterial and to reduce osmotic stress.

Little bugger is still scratching.

Eating like crazy though. Wont give the ropefish a chance.

 

The loss of scales could also be due to aggressive tank mates.
