I've been running a sunsun submersible led light in the canopy of my 60cm tank since starting it (so 2 months now).
Its a very low wattage, box says 8w.
The plants have been growing well. I've had it on for 11-12 hours a day.

I have just ordered an 18w white/blue led clip on light.
I want to replace the sunsun light with this one, but obviously can't run it for as many hours a day or I'll have major algae growth.

How does one do the split timing? The one where it's on for some hours, then off, then on again?
I like to switch the light on for their breakfast and then off after their supper. So I'm thinking some time off in the middle of the day? But how long?

I have mine on this cycle. No plants but it should work for that. Its two 60cm 20 watt fluorescent tubes.

    On 7:30 AM- off 10:30AM
Then again on at 5:00 PM off at 9:00 PM
