Tilapia or not?

    Anyone know what fish this is? It was in a pond with tilapia but it doesn't look like one.

    I can be completely wrong but it looks like a South American cichlid to me.

    I had someone suggest Jack Dempsey, I'm looking into this at the moment and seems plausible. I'm only finding out cause his pair just had babies.

    My brother never even knew there were eggs so its possible I suppose, unfortunately he isn't the most observant so there is no way for me to answer for sure... all I can say is these two are the smallest fish in the community tank and they're kicking everyone's butt into one corner and they have half the tank safely to their babies.
