Tiger Shovelnose Catfish

    Hi

    I saw a Tiger Shovel nose Catfish at my local LFS the past weekend I'm interested in it. But need some pointers

    Can I keep him with other fish ?

    What size take would I need minimum to keep him happy?


    side note it costs R120 is that an okay price ?

    @Jeeves: I would avoid it, it is one of those "monster fish" They get massive and will eat anything they can fit into their mouth's:

    I have heard of them even swallowing rocks that are used for decor. Bare bottom heated pond with other monsters are about the only way to keep these guys.

    @Jeeves,

    They get big and are predatory.
    So not really suitable for a standard setup, and definately not community.

    Thanks for the feed back guys, that sad but I called and heard he was sold.... so I guess it wasn't meant to be. But that will be a project for me when i'm older :D

    Jip... I had a friend with 1 in a 3m tank. Think it was 60cm at the time. One night he heard something by the tank. Mr. Tiger Shovelnose desided to test the sides and went thru the side glass.
