I figured out how to use the above in a way, but it does not always work. Even the icon, looking like a blue speaker, does not work correctly. Many times it will just show the @, but not the member name. So, how do you use the function? What is the real effect of using it? Does it send a message to the user mentioned, so he can notice it? What other effects does it have?
@Tom.K well..... here's one at you...... Now you can see first hand what happens at the recipients' end.
Nothing! Apart from the e-mail informing me that there was a reply to a subscribed thread. I had 3 mentions before this one, but was never notified of any. @Cheetah Anything your side? How do you use the function? I have to manually type it Code: @Cheetah hehe, code function not working? lets try without the terminating /mention not working either... I just wanted to show what I type to get it to work, but can not do it. Cheetah
Al you have to do is put @ in front of someones name. He then gets a notification like a pm informing him that someone mentioned him and a link to that post. You might have something disabled in your browser if its not working.
Thanks @Vis. Will investigate. I do get pop ups on PM's, can not think why not on this. Will dig a bit. PS. Stange world we live in. I did try just putting @ in front of a name when I started on the forum. Whould not work then, but now it does!
Yep.... it worked with mine as well... I received notification that Tom.K mentioned me in a topic..... so, you are doing it right.
There's no alert/popup for mentions, but they show RIGHT at the top of the page on the right under "Notifications".
If you want to mention someone... you put an "@" with their name after it... Name has to be spelt correctly.. and NO SPACE between the @ and the name. On the home page, top right you will have a notification saying you've been mentioned. That's all. Imagine a bl**dy pop up everytime someone mention's your name?
