I've often seen them for sale so they can't be that rare.

Rarest fish in my tank at the moment would be my Sturisoma, so not that rare, although if Dam projects along the Amazon tributaries go ahead, I'm sure its about to become a lot rarer??

After that its probably going to be the Apisto Agassizii Tefe Red Back I am going to be getting soon?

Rarest Fish I've ever had would probably be my Panther Loach (I'll try and find a Scientific name later). Sadly it passed away about a year ago!! Never found one since!!

    Cheers
    BiG G!

Hey Stormbringer, those are quite rare. The ones the we see quite regularly (and by that I mean about twice ever) down here are from Cynoglossus, not sure on the exact species. Nice find.

SB, Achirus are what you'd call the 'regular' soles, the ones with a round/oval shape. Your's is more than likely one from Cynoglossidae, the tonguesoles.

With these guys, it's very hard to pin an exact ID on them due to their very similar shapes and their ability to alter their body colour/pattern to match the substratum on which they're resting. If yours is in freshwater (as opposed to brackish) and eating, then there is a good chance it's locality is somewhere around South East Asia or one of the nearby islands.

Rather don't - I can guarentee you that those other fish will outcompete him for food, even at night in the case of the Monos. Just be sure that he's eating where he is - if he isn't, then it's usually an indication that your flatfish is in the wrong water conditions. Increase the salinity slowly to avoid shock.

sole fish also have special dietary needs . in the wild they eat snails and crabs and a variety of other bottom dwellers . you should try putting a couple very small snails into the tank and see if he eats them. count how many you put in so you know

back on topic I saw a red arowana at a shop . it was a juvenile and cost around 400 rand . what a good looking fish

option 1 goes for about R80 and gets imported every season

option 2 is avoided by most shops due to the high death rate and special care they need... but you can get them from some wholesale guys

Red line torpedos come about every so often, but too common though because we pay insane prices for them...

Baby whales are pretty damn cool - I don't find them particularly hard to care for, but they just don't sell, mainly because they're rather dull coloured and hide all day long. Elephantnoses are a much better option IMO.
