The Planted Tank Competition

Ok guys and girls...

I need some help here. I have a bit of kit that I ordered, especially to run a competition and give it away as a prize... The prize will be worth roughly R2500. It will consist of a bunch of ADA products.

So, I need ideas... An aquascaping competition would be nice to run, but it does take a while for a tank to grow in. Perhaps a Photo Competition with a theme? Maybe a DIY competition? Please help me with some cool ideas for a competition.

Well, I want the Prize to be awarded a week or 2 after the shipment arrives. So 6 - 8 weeks from now. Perhaps an Aquascape comp would work? A Low tech scaping competition? Because the prize will help a low tech tank...

I like your ideas as well Zoom... An article about doing a DIY job with a limited budget... Interesting.

 

For example if the budget is R250.00, give an article on anything fish related that comes in under R250.00 (and maybe a 2 week DIY time limit?). If you can build a 6foot tank for under R250.00 in such a way that anyone can do it, I'd definitely award that person with the prize!!

 

Ok what about a hardscape/concept tank comp. Almost all of us have a empty tank somewhere orwant one more You hardscape the tank and if you win use the prize to complete the tank and grow it out?Most low tech tanks rely on heavy hardscape anyway.

 

Nice idea dude! I'll have a think about this some more. Any other ideas folks?

 

How about creating an photo add for planted tanks or products no sci fi photoshop ads, real photo.

 

Now that is a good idea!! Very interesting... But I work in advertizing, and I can be really critical. LOL!

Not at all. LOL! Advertising folks could enter... They just stand a better chance of winning... LOL!

Agreed, BUT, if you dont have a decent looking product it is brushed over almost right away...

 

Ok, but I really need plenty of people to be able to enter. Having a competition that one can easily enter is more important for me. A low tech setup is easy for anyone to enter as an aquascape. Not everyone has access to Photoshop, and stuff like that. I really like the idea of an ad though. I must think on this one...

i like Vis's idea with the hardscaping idea, you could even combine the two ideas put forward here, choose the tank whose hardscaping you like best then use the winning tank for the ad campaign. you could do a before and after, like a pic of the tank when its newly planted and say a month or two after to show the better results you get with the use of ADA products...

 

That is a nice idea, but I think I'll go the more traditional route for the comp... Aquascape on a low tech system. No Co2.
