    @Jack Stone,

    I have kept brichardi in the past.
    Easy and entertaining.

    Howzit,
    @neltf , Thanks for the call yesterday.

    Neolamprologus brichardi are extremely entertaining as Reedfish mentioned especially once they have started breeding.
    The babies/ fry grow up and protect the same territory as the adults, multiple generation of spawning... AWESOME sight!
    A 3ft /90cm will work well as a species tank, sandy substrate with a few caves & crevices on either side and in the middle.

    As discussed a pair of Altolamprologus Calvus Black Congo would be able to go with the brichardi in a larger aquarium.

    @neltf,

    Jack Stone has given good advice of how to keep them.
    In a smaller tank thery should be species only.
    A bigger tank and Alto would be good tankmates ( and also great Tangs to keep).
    Sand with a few piles of rocks.

    Would Neolamprologus brichardi do ok with Neolamprologus multifasciatus? I will be moving my multis from a 2 foot to a 3 foot tank, and I want to add another species

    Hi @LunaTic - They would not do well together in an aquarium in the long term. Both are colonial species which have the tendency to take over an aquarium. The Brichardi would remain dominant over the Multifasciatus and would likely kill them off quite quickly. I would suggest adding a pair of Altolamprologus sp. Shell Sumbu... the specialist shell dwelling Altolamprologus, most Altolamps are rock dwellers in the wild but the sp. Shell have evolved to stay a bit smaller and use shells for protection.

    Altolamprologus sp. Shell will hunt the Multies fry with varying levels of success and this is a real treat the watch, their colors are just amazing, they're quite like chameleons and rarely stick to one color for very long. The sp. Shell are fry predators but not really aggressive towards other species, so if they can't eat them they'll usually leave them alone... the Multies will want to keep the sp. Shell out of their established territories, but the sp. Shell will happily hang around the edges waiting for an opportunity to go on the hunt when the Multies parents aren't paying attention....
