I will remove the cory's. Either I spooked the parents or the corys or it's something else. I thought if they were free swimming they would be safe. And the parents were doing so well. Father was frantic in the tank last night when they all dissapeared.

Really dissapointing. This was their first spawn so maybe they just need to get into the swing of things. As I said, I will make my 100l exclusively for them and see if I have any success. Now's when I need the ram experts to try to understand what went wrong.

If the parents get stressed too much they will eat their own fry also. And it was their first spawn. Better luck next time

Thanks Ryno. I didn't realise they would eat fry. I thought it was only the eggs at risk. I suppose they will try again in a few weeks.

I had the lights on 24hrs a day as I was hatching BS. Do you think it might be that or my proximity to the tank or the corydoras?

Im not sure. Other fish in the tank stressing them maybe, even if you gave them a good scare, but being first time spawners probably have a big influence

My Sterbai are quite big, fat, move really quickly and scare very easily so maybe it was that or maybe because the GBR's are new at it.

It means I have time to sort the tank out even better and catch those damn cory's!

I have been trying to catch the 2 Sterbai in the tank for quite awhile because I think they are both female and I have 2 more in my 300l which I'm hoping at least one is male. I have 5 Trilineatus Corydoras in the 100l as well but they are still pretty small.

I have a lot of fish I would like to breed and no tanks to breed them in! 2 pairs of GBR's, Dwarf Gourami, 2 pairs of Scalare Angels, Sterbai Corydoras and Trilineatus Corydoras

Not sure about rams, but with Kribs, the first few broods are usually unsuccessful. My kribs have bred 3 times and each time, the fry manage to get a few days older than the previous batch before they disappear. But in my case, it's not the parents chowing the fry; it's my climbing perch.
But give them some time. It's normal for the first few batches to not work out. The parents still have their training wheels and are figuring out what to do.

Managed to catch the Sterbai in my tank. There are still 5 trilineatus corydoras in the tank but I just can't catch them!

    My tank looks like this:

And my GBR's have laid eggs again. Hopefully it goes better this time!

So far so good. Eggs are still there and they are still fanning them and eating the dud ones.

Thanks Derik. I have been wanting to breed GBR's since I first got them but I am not going to stress too much if things don't work again.

Well done Marc.:top: Will keep my fingers crossed man. Love GBR's. Mine is going for a year now with no Issues. Just need to get him a female. But that's easy said... All I ever see when I do come across GBR's are male. Just my luck then. And that tank of yours look great. Running Co2 on it aswell?

Hey @SloMo.00. - Thanks man. I have this pair in the 100l and another pair and a lonely female (pity you're not in Cape Town) in the 300l. No CO2 in this tank and the lights are rubbish! Currently have T8's - 25w and 20w which are both over a year old so seriously dull.

I will get 4x39w T5's today hopefully and then hook up diy CO2 on the weekend.

I am busy planning a 60x50x40 high 10mm thick tank to replace this tank in my study. I should also be getting a second 100l from a friend of my brother so now I just have to convince the missus to let me keep 2 more tanks than the original agreement. That negotiation should go well
