So.. A while back I had bought an Albino Silver Arowana which some of you might have seen in the pup grow out tank
I really wanted another Aro as the center piece for the new tank as they are not only amazing fish but perfect tank mates for the rays
However for some time now its been impossible to get Asian Aros so I settled with an Albino Silver even though it wasnt what I really wanted
They awesome fish but the Asian is smaller and has a different character

Anyway.. luck came our way and we managed to get two baby Asian Aros... so I sold the Albino Silver
I was sad in a way but happier in another way

They both in the pup grow out tank with Maria while the new tank is built and she puts on some size before i can put her with the big guys

When they arrived three weeks ago002.jpg 023.jpg

This weekend,, have grown a little as they eat like crazy

    @Cesar,

    Very nice.
My goal one day is to have an Arowana.

I see your Gar is doing well too.

    Thanks @Saturn...

The two fish you asking about are two baby Florida Gars

This is my slightly older one which is boarding with Maria for now while the tank build is taking place

    Thanks @top dog

Yes.... Now we have to patiently wait for their colours to develop although in person the colours are already quite prominent

I am sure you will have one, one of these days... after all you never thought you would own rays and look where you are!!!

    Thanks @Reedfish

Yep.. you need an Aro with your rays!!

The two little gars are doing really well, they were about the size of a cigarette when they came, I had to put them in an empty compartment in my sump for a while and they gave me grey hairs to get them to eat
I had to eventually resort to feeders for about two months which I never do but it was either that or lose them as they were too small to take a chance in starving them but eventually they started taking sardine and started growing nicely and could be moved to the grow out tank where they get hand fed and spoilt by Granny....

My older one is also looking nice, he has coloured up nicely and also boarding with Granny...

I do. Size wise I think only a jardini would be comfortable in the tank.
But from my research, they are very aggressive, so will leave it for the mean time.

Jardini are very aggressive although like everything else, you do find the odd one that accepts other big fish with it but its really a miracle
However, the strange thing is that I have seen a couple of them with rays and they were ok
In fact, one of the LFS's had an adult one for about 3 years if not more, all alone in a tank and when baby rays came in, they always went in with the Jardini with no problem which always amazed me

As you say, it's up to the individual fish.
I am not prepared to take a chance.

I also think it comes down to tank size.
Mine is probably just on the limit for minimum size. If it was bigger, with more room for harassed fish to hide, it may be more likely to work out?

jardini are great fish just they where clealry not hugged as children witch really proves to be a problem.
would not put one with rays just from past experience
that is really interesting that baby rays and monster jardini in same tank. I have never kept one with anything for a long term, either they bully or get bullied

I must be honest, I would never take a chance either after my first one about 6 years ago
She was only about 20cm maybe not even that and I had to take her back shortly after purchasing her as it bullied and bit everyone in the tank
With a Jardini, to be honest, I dont think tank size makes a big difference... If its in it to be aggressive,, it will hunt down everyone in the tank

You can be lucky and maybe get the odd one that is more placid but its like I said.. its a miracle.

They are beautiful so it is a pity...
You would know better than anyone from first hand experience, my experience was short lived.. I just gave up

Wazeer had that very big one there for probably 3 years and she was very often with baby rays
You couldnt really see it because the tank was high above eye level
Because of this, I was tempted many times to give her a home but my better judgement went against it in the end every time

I was very tempted, but after doing some research decided to leave it.

It is a nice fish though.

    Hi Everyone

So.. its almost two months since the babies arrived .. time for a small update

As Maria said, the 24k became a real bully and we had to separate the two

Tank is a bit small but will be ok for another two or three weeks until Im finished transferring fish and rays to the new tank

She is growing nicely but I would like to see another cm or two on her before adding her to the big tank
