The 50 litre Betta Tank

Initial update, just to show the initial look. Still cycling the tank, but I'll probably be able to start stocking it soon.

Plants were split and planted out yesterday, some Java fern and a grass I'm unsure of the name of
Hardscape is mopani wood and Guiying stone. I'll defintiely add some floating plants and maybe more plants in the substrate as well if needed. The substrate is just some dappled looking gravel with some Seachem flourite red underneath.

So far the idea is to stock this with shrimp (possibly red cherry), some panda cory and of course the all important Betta.

That's it for now, let's see how the plants do, and hope the nitrates go down a little more and some fish shops have panda cory for me

 

On Saturday I picked up 6 Panda Cory for the tank, they seem happy although I now think I should have gone with a finer substrate top layer for them. The little sinking wafers seem to have a knack of falling in the places where the fish can reach them the least.

And then on Sunday I went back to Aqua Empire again for those sinking wafers and saw this guy. He just struck a cord and although I thought it would take much longer to find a Betta for this tank, he just had to come home with me. And today he's already building a bubble nest, so I think he's doing OK!

Next up we may get a few ember tetras to round things out, my better half saw them and really liked them (and all the other fish there!), so I think they're a good choice for a mid-level swimmer.
