What an awesome schooling species. I also have my eye on them but they are not really common in Durban.

Normally, shoaling fish move together but don't necessarily follow each other like a bait-ball - Like cory cats, discus, loaches . . and the like. .

I only realized YESTERDAY that there are 3 distinct species of rummy nose tetras!! Also discovered some other interesting tetra species that I've never heard of before - Jelly Bean Tetra, Diamond head Neon, Platinum Tetra, Dog Tooth tetra. . .

    Nice Videos!

Rummy noses are awesome for bigger tanks. also the read noses is a very good indicator for your water quality. as soon as their noses isnt bright read you know something in the water is stressing them very nice fish. find that they dont traverl tooo well so dont usually buy them the day they arrive at the lfs

:lol:Yes now I see the cory joining things, cute.

I have 6 more rummies in quarantine to later join the 2 survivors in the 180L, but will still be a small school - nothing like the 1000 in the last vid. They are very tight schoolers, amazing!

I like the bigger, more unusual fish.
So a big tank full or common Tetras seems such a waste to me.

Though I do appreciate that this can be quite effective.

Although I am more into big fish, i have to say that the rummy noses are one of m favorite little fish and in a planted tank they make a stunning display
