Tetratec EX 700 Lid Stuck

Picked this up as a bonus when I bought a 2nd hand tank. The lid won't come off for the life of me. Any ideas on how to get it off without destroying it? Seems someone else tried with a screwdriver....wasn't me

Try using a blade to cut the seal between the head and body. It's possible the previous owner used a gasket seal maker because they couldn't find a spare gasket due to a leak. ..

 

Are both the inlet and outlet open? If not, that could help to break the seal.

 

Still trying, I can see the main seal all the way around and it looks Ok, just can't get the lid to budge

 

If you try and force it , it might crack the canister . Have you tried heating it with a hair dryer ? I don't know if its safe to use a heat gun to heat it ( Never owned one) But heating it might loosen the rubber or glue. It looks like the previous owner glued it in place , the canister is missing its black clamp piece on the tub.

 

Thess buggers are a pain to open. There are 2 pair of clips. One pair is to open it. Basically once you lift all the way over the top lifts up

 

And in the center of the in and out is also a clip that needs to be fliped once you close the valves

Got it open with a heat gun and a piece of flat bar

 

Was it glued shut?

 

And also importantly, could you seal it again so it can function?

 

Wasn't glued shut, there was so much dried gunk on the inside it just formed a cement like bond around the gasket

 

Can you at least use it now?
