    Hi all,

Was just wondering whats the average temps of most tanks, mine is currently on 24 normally have my heaters down a bit during winter time, might increase it to 26 during summer again. Or if I see my fishes are happier at 24 then I will keep it there.

Come on people lets participate and share info between us all.

Also what do you all think should be the average for fish to be happy?

It will depend on what fish you are keeping. Some fish prefer much higher temps, while others will be fine with 24.

I think the average temp though is about 25-26...

A fluctuation between 24*C to 26*C will be ok.
In nature, temps will fluctuate with the seasons, so it is natural.

I keep mine around 27* to 28*C, but I have w c Stingrays from the Amazon, so I have it on the warmer side.

My discus tank 29c, oscar tank 26c, arowana tank 26c and shrimp tank 22c. In summer they all go over 30c, highest I've had was 33c for two weeks. The fish are all fine at those temps for short time in summer but the aro becomes a hand full at those temps, very active and bitey haha.

As has been said, it depends on what fish you have but taking an average of the requirements of the fish in tank is good rule of thumb

Discus and rays at 29, Amazon types and clowns at 26/28
Oscars are ok at 28 but if more than one, they become a hand full at higher temperatures

Also around 25-26C, I see the warmer weather of the past few days increased the temp of my large tank by 1C, and the tap water has gone from 15C to 18C, winter seems in recess!

Yip some sleepless nights awaits. Last summer was a nightmare with my aro. When he starts that left to right patrol with speed and power, you can actually hear him moving water. ai... Might invest in a chiller this year.

All my heaters are set to 28°C, which gives an average temperature of 26-28°C in the summer, and an average temperature of 24°C in the winter.
