    Hello All

I am in the process of designing a wall unit to fit in a wall recess in My lounge.

Once this is done I am planning to buy about 6 Young Angelfish and let them pair. Then choose one pair to keep in the tank.

    My question is.

The tank size I am planning to build for the cabinet is
    1200(L)300(W)500(H)

Will this size tank to sufficient for what I want to do.

the 300w might prove difficult to work with when it comes to scaping, try to get it to atleast 500w if your space allows.

    Thanks Singularity.
I am a bit tight on space. The max I would be able to increase to might be 350(w). And thats pushing it. It looks like I will have to keep the landscaping down to a minimum.

    Angels would appreciate a deeper tank.Say 700.
Mine is 800 and the waterlevel is 750.

I geuss I will be informing the wife that her lounge is going to become very small.
Slojo, what size L*W*H is Your tank. And what setup do You suggest. I will then try and get as close as possible.

Only issue i have with a tank higher than 600 is that it becomes impossible to reach anywhere near the bottom, and as height increase so should the glass thickness. On 800 high i would not feel comfortable with anything less than 12mm glass, where as with 600 high you can use 10mm.

    Hi Norgrin,

Will you also have other fish with the pair of angels in the end?
If you only plan to keep a single pair in the end, then you can go even smaller than what you mentioned in your first post.
The problem comes when they spawn successfully, not even a 2 meter tank will help then.
You will have to get more tanks to house the babies.
You will have to do daily water changes, prepare and feed brine shrimp on a daily basis.
Its quite a lot of work for a display tank.

I plan to have just a single pair of Angelfish in the tank. Maybe a Pleco.

My wife has said the biggest tank I can have is 1200(L)*500(W) Yippeee Yay.

The spawning and hatching will have to happen in the main tank unfortunately as I do not have space for more tanks. My dad says that He will raise the babies in one of his tanks.

1200x500x600(h) would be perfect, do you have someone in mind to do the build for you or will it be DIY ? Oh, and make it marine ready (ie ad an overflow and sump) so that when you want to convert (which will happen sooner or later) you only need to ad ad a skimmer and dsb.

1200x500x600(h) it will then Be. It will be a DIY. I am going to build a cabinet/wall unit around the tank.
What extra must be done to the tank to add an overflow and sump.

You just need to drill the base and build an overflow compartment, i will pm you a guy`s contact details in cape town who will be able to help you, maybe just go and speak to him and look at some of the tanks he has built.

And when you order the glass, get a quote on highly polished glass with beveled outside edges, this just finishes of a tank well.

Be careful of adding a pleco with angels, he/she will definitely eat the eggs.

    Thanks Mattie

Then I will leave the pleco out. I will just house the pair of Angels in the Tank.
Maybe I will put in a few guppies to supply live food for the Angels
