tank Cleaner ID please

    hi all, please can anyone ID this cleaner.. have no idea what it is but it cleans like crazy

    As @mydummyname said on the other thread, that is a chinese algae eater. They eat masses of algae when they're little, but sometimes become aggressive towards other fish as they mature, and are also known to get lazy wrt eating algae. So keep a careful eye on him/her!I had one that became extremely unpleasant in my community tank, and had to rehome it.

    Agreed. They nice when young. Become terrible fish when grown up!

    also had to re-home mine. it was a holy terror. was a mission to catch it too!

    thank you for you input. so i should take back my advice that every tank should have them.
    any idea on the time frame to adulthood? reading up on it its actually a disaster in a comunity tank.

    if you want a community friendly cleaner then get a small group of SAE. friendly, sociable little guys.

    in my experience the CAE grows quite rapidly, mine doubled in size within a matter of months
