Tank Backgrounds

    What do guys and gals put on the back pane of your tanks. Pictures, Solid colours, nothing ?

    It depends on what feeling you are trying to create. But solid colors do bring forth your plants very well

    A black bag on the back of the tank does wonders!

    black or light blue non gloss vynil works he best for me doesnt look like crappy lfs and can remove it whenever you want to

    I've always used car wrapping vinyl. They can print anything u want on it or u can choose just to have a plain color. By using vinyl u do not get water behind the background and it always looks good. Just make shore u get all the bubbles out when fitting it.

    thinking of going with polystyrene and making it black and putting it up on the outside of the tank as a background!

    I like a plain background.

    Used to have those fake landscape type ones on some of my older tanks.
    But now prefer the simpler ones.

    I haven't tried it, but would it not cause territorial fish to fight with their reflection?

    (PS guys--- most of us stick the background on the OUTSIDE of the tank in any case)

    Did it with black vynil, I think it will look quite cool

    if the back glass is stained with water marks, will paint cover it up?

    The paint might cover them but will still be seen as 'marks' or blotches the same colour as the paint. Try rubbing VERY VERY gently with steel wool and vinegar - it might take those deposits off the glass.
