The first one looks a little like a Central American cichlid to me, either young a Petenia or a young Parachromis. Second looks like a baby pleco, maybe an oto...

the guy showed me this tank which uses "normal" cheap plant substrate - looks like ADA
    [IMG]

But compared to the ADA here - Huge difference! u guys probably cannot see the diff here but the non ada substrate had mg and k problems..

check this plant out! i asked them what their most expensive plant was and they named this one..echinodocus Sata 2003 Ibirapuita - cant find it on the net.. i asked whats the diff with an amazon sword and they said that its a very dark green.. they showed me a normal amazon and it does look diff..

BUT, i wouldn pay $9000 (taiwanese dollars) = R2000!!!!!!!!!!! OMG

Wow now THAT is a display tank! SA lfs seem stuck in this rut that only marine tanks can look good and freshwater is made up of a couple of different fish chucked into some holding tanks. I can think of 3 stores with vaguely decent freshwater displays. Can you imagine how much more interest there would be in planted tanks if you walked into a shop and saw one of those tanks

    Wow @shihr

You are really lucky to have the opportunity to witness those tanks, they are really impressive.

Do you perhaps have pics of some of the LFS large non-planted display tanks ?

LOVE the tank in the second pic! adding something else to do on my bucket list, go see thai pet stores and nurseries. i agree if we could only raise awareness on planted tanks the hobby could pick up. pity none of the sponsors are exhibiting at the dog and cat show at the dome, i'd be prepared to bring my lil tank with Apsolem and we could all donate pics of our tanks, theres never very much fish related stuff there.

dude.. Thai(Thailand) and Taiwan are 2very very different countries.. Just lettin u kno..

Yep i agree.. If a lfs had any one of those tanks on display i think that it'll defn spark huge interest and thus get ppl buyin substrates, co2, ferts, etc..

Fresh water can b just as interestin as salt water..
