I'm just starting out with my planted tank for my Siamese fighter and I only have a bit of Vallis grass. Was looking at Linxie's tank pics and it looks so beautiful. So I wanted to know what suggestions you guys have for good plants for my tank. It's 24L and has one 11W light (about 1W:2L), and I keep the light on for about 12 hours. I really want to cover up my heater, so you can't see it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:smile1:

i have watersprite, java fern, amazon swords, anubias nana and hair grass in mine and getting java moss from slojo this weekend. ill use it on some of the rocks and possibly make some sort of cover for the filter with plastic mesh. i also want to do Vulcan a bed, you'll find yours will find plants and such to lie on, the closer to the surface the happier mine seems. theres pics of the tank on my profile though Vulcan wont sit still long enough for a clear shot lol.

with your lighting id say anubias, java and the hairgrass would work as they can survive in low light, i could be wrong though?

    All but the hairgrass windfire.

Kel-Sol, do some research about their natural habitat and you will quickly see what they like. Not the ones that is kept in mud puddles and rice paddies but the natural enviroment of the wild betta.

They do like to sleep near the survice and would even sleep on the hinges of your heater.

They do not like very bright light so yours is fine. Your best bet is anubias and Java fern or Moss.

They like exporing so give them lot of little nooks to go and check out.
The flow in the tank should also be kept to a minimum.

BUt more important then their tanks is what you feed them.

Look through this site where they collected betta and you would get an idee.

Don't fall in love with the guys on this site too much, they are hard to come by and some reeeeaaaally expensive.
