    Hi all,

a colleague of mine has a pond he wants to waterproof. Are there any really good products on the market for that? Something that doesn't 'bubble' underwater, and is quite UV resistant?

Any other hints & tips when taking on such a DIY project? :)

    Thanks!

You can use a bitumen sealant that is safe 4 the fish such as WATERBLOCK.

What about Pool Coat, they use as the final layer on a fibre glass swimming pool? It will be extremely toxic, but once it cured properly it could be OK? What does the people with experience on this say? I meant to ask already, just never got as far.

When I worked as a store manager at Mica, we use to sell a product called Everbond. (Everseal is the one you use with Membrane, Everbond you use without the membrane). It is a bit more pricy than the average Builder's Warehouse house brand, or Flash Harry, though. It was originally manufactured for the underground mines, and they apparently use to coat the inside of their mines with it to assist with the dampness.

Anyway, we used the Everbond product on an indoor concrete pond, and put fish in the next day. No hassles.

The only way to make sure a pond is 100% water proof is to fiberglass it. Most of these membrane type stuff cant deal with the pressure at the bottom of a 2m deep koi pond.
