please forgive my really stupid question, but I'm a n00b and have a betta so havent given much thought about the oxygen requirements of non labyrinth fish.

how does one ensure that the tank water contains adequate oxygen then? what sort of equipment is needed? I have a basic understanding of filters (my betta tank has a small internal filter), but at what stage and using what equipment is the oxygen in the water renewed??

small words, possibly pictures please :)
