Hi guys this is a very strange request, I hope someone can help me with this. I am looking for dried Indian Almond Leaves also commonly know as Catappa or Ketapang. I would prefer if I can either find a supplier or distributors of these in the Gauteng area, importing these is moer expensive around R 150 for 6 medium sized leaves. Hell I would settle for the leaves themselves which I will just dry on my own then. If anyone knows were I can find these please let me know thanks.

I want to use them in my tank as they work better than Rooibos and it has medicinal purposes and anti bacteria/fungus properties:

I bought a box of it some time ago but the price tag on these are insane:

Can't you use dried oak leaves also? But not too sure if oak has any medicinal purpose other than to stain the water and soften it.

It's ridiculous hey? I collect mine in Durban when I go to see my in-laws, but I don't know when I'm going there next. KZN members, you have the opportunity for a thriving business here :p

    Hey @Swagasaurus

It's a pity you aren't in Durban. Those trees grow everywhere!

    Hope you come right

@dash What I did was go to the Durban botanical gardens, I had a good idea of the sort of tree I was looking for, and I found one with a nameplate which confirmed it. Gathered the completely dead and dry leaves only from the ground around it - if the leaf is alive at all it rots which is a bad idea. Once you know what you're looking for you can find them all over the place. You can see the leaves on the first page of the thread. They're big, about 20 cm long. The name of the tree is Terminalia catappa.

I did a search on that type of tree here in KZN. But found that here it is the Terminalia Americana. Where abouts can you get the T.Catappa ? Or can you use the T.Americana in the tank?
