strange foam

    hi guys
    my relative has a 90L tank with guppies
    there is a lot of foam building at the surface and a lot like a bubble bath.it has been there for 3 days now
    need some expert advise here

    Can we get details on filtration, aeration and flow through the tank? What are his water changes like?

    it has an internal filter ie sponge ,coal and ceramic rings
    small air diffuser
    water change 3-4 weeks

    The foam buldup is DOC's - Disolved organo Carbons... The tank has gone a bit long without a waterchange (at worst a 33% every 2 weeks - better to do a 20 - 25% every week....)

    Get rid of it by a good couple of water changes - much more regularly and watch the feeding...

    are you using root fertiliser tabs?

    tetra Crypto causes surface bubbles in areas of water agitation...not harmful.

    thats my only experience of mystery surface bubbles - someone else will give you a better answer if you dont use root fert tabs

    Has he been treating the tank with any meds? These can also cause this.

    No fert tabs as there is only plastic plants
    @ firefly - no meds has been used
    i think azurekoi solved the mystery
