My bond has been approved, the attorney's have made their money, I felt like I have signed my entire life and life savings away, and the attorneys are lodging today... Whilst this is extremely exciting, I am haunted with the move of the tank.

The fish are going to be temporarily housed at @Madam 's house for a few weeks in some temp tanks she has set up for me.

During the move, I am planning on rescaping the tank.

Now whilst I am sort of concerned about the fish, I am actually more worried about my plants. I do not particularily want to house the plants with the fish, because the fish are actually going into a small tank (no substrate), so the plants will just take up space. I will also be needing the plants to come with me to their new home so that I can plant them.

They will be taken out of their tank and relocated to a temp tank in the new home until the main tank arrives (possibly a week gap). All I have spare is a standard 1foot with light. Now I know that I can just "chuck" them into the tank temporarily with the light and a filter, but my concern is that plants will automatically float up to the top, blocking any lower lying plants from light. What can I tie to the roots, (without damaging the roots) to enable the plants to sit in the tank properly and behave themselves? I thought of just using small pebbles and cotton thread, but I'm sure there must be an easier way?

well ive kept plants floating (glosso, hygro, moss hc and hm) in one tank before for 2months temporarily with fish at the bottom, filtration and lights running.. had abit of stunted growth (not bad though) BUT they survived and they still in my tank till today!

so its up to u.. how long u thinking of "storing" them for?

Just make sure each plant has sufficient light

Go look in the members section under zoom's 4 ft... there's too many plants to let float in 1ft. Put it this way, they will probably FILL the one foot without water!

@Firefly this is an option. Tx
@dragon8 Thanks. It's actually been terribly easy. Offer to purchase went in on 22/12/2010. Bond approval went through on 11/1/2011. And lodging went through today. 1.5 months! Not bad considering nothing was done during 24/12 - 03/01

@Zoom my wife and i recently got our bond approved for a small holding (ima be a farmer) and we're super excited...we waiting for the lawyers still and our timing is much like yours though it seems we'll only have occupation by april...and don't play it down i hear that about 60% get denied and about 30% don't get full bonds, people can't afford to buy like before, enjoy your victory i tell you...

Not playing it down... I just know I have a "higher power" who I left in control of everything, and He pulled through for us.

    Thanks Donny

@Zoom you have no idea how lucky you were with the speed of lodging. My folks bought a 2bedroom flat in PTA offer was accepted around the end of october. Deal was cash so no bond approval time we are STILL waiting for it to be lodged!

Congrats @Zoom ... Yes, you know who to leave it to.

Try some paper-clips and hook it to the plant roots.
The other end of the clip can be hooked to mesh that's kept down wit rocks, in a bare tank.
