Hi to all our Tasa member's..
Firstly if it was not for Tasa- some day's would just be Tooo long at the office..

    So got a 3ft tank as a freebie Thank's to @Flash.

Started the tank last week, with current water from my 2ft, Cascade HOB 300 and Dophin C500 canister that is matured.
Via Aqua 200W for heating with a Boyu sponge filter
Ista Co2 setup with the bubble count at 2 p/second.
    Lighting is a Odysea unit with 1 x T5 54W Plantek pro growth and 1 x T5 54W Plantek 10000K daylight.
Substrate is dark Flourite and started with minimum dosing Seachem Flourish, Excel, Iron, Nitrogen, Potassium and phosphorus last night.
Some driftwood and a some stones for now with Moss - Rubber band's holding them in place till they get attached.
For now i'm doing a more or less 60l WC every 2nd day then will drop after I feel it's right.

For the plants - I'm still learning all these hectic scientific name's. So please don' jump on my back for not listing all of them..As progress goes I shall do so.

Moss, Java Fern, Cabomba, Ratola, Vallis ! @Marius Swart thanks for the plant's!
Here is is a pic but will take new one's with the camera!

Yup, aint that the truth! :amazed:

    Tank looks good.

Just a thing I have. Really don't like looking through a tank at the wall behind. I feel a background is essential.

Nice start. You may want to plant the vallis further back. It will cover the surface in no time.

Why do you have both a Cascade 300 HOB and Dophin C500 canister on this tank? Is it because you had them (and the sponge filter) available, or is it because you genuinely feel the need for the flow/filter media volume? Or are you just running them for now to populate the tank with good bacteria?

    @RoGe

I had them running in my 2ft and as a pre-caution if one had to go I have a backup all ready in-line.Also a good bacteria advantage then. But the real reason is that i'm slowly getting back to start up all my aquariums . I also have a Casade 1200 caniser running with my AC 110 HOB now in the 2ft.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm asking a genuine question because I'm still learning here, but isn't this serious overkill? I agree completely with the advantage of running two filters on a tank, and would always aim to do that, but my understanding is that a cascade 300 HOB on its own is sufficiently oversized for a 3ft, as is a Dophin C500 canister. I also understand a Cascade 1200 canister on its own to be HUGELY oversized for a 2ft, as is an Aquaclear 110 HOB. Now I know that oversized filters are great and "you can never have too much filtration", but that's a LOT of money spent on filters for only two fairly small tanks!

The philosphy that I think I'm adapting is to have two filters per tank, but have each filter 'correctly' sized, so that you still end up with double the amount of 'recommended' filtration. When I say 'correctly' sized, or 'recommended' filtration, I mean a cascade 150 HOB for a 3ft (up to 35gallon tank), or an Aquaclear 20 HOB for a 2ft (up to 20gallon tank). These paired with a small canister per tank (any canister would provide more than the recommended filtration for a 2ft or 3ft tank) would keep me comfortable on a 3ft and 2ft.

But as I said, I'm checking my understanding here and still learning!

Edit: But if you're maturing these filters in order to start up other, bigger tanks in the near future, then you can ignore my post above!

    lol @RoGe

    No worries. Long term planning...
I have these filters and I want to mature them when I will be needing them they are ready to be used.
Those filters are awaiting to be transfered to my bigger tanks. I have a Juwel 250L and that I will be using the AC110 on, and then the 600L will be for the C 1200. But also looking at maybe using a sump instead.

I agree , looks much better , I did not want to use spray or something permanent so I used a black trash bag and taped it on the back
