Hi, I would just like to know if any one on of you guys and girls are keeping these fish or have kept them before? I would just like to get some info from fellow forum members. I have read up allot about these fish and they are really creeping into my heart! I saw some at a lfs for R35. Really considering getting a pair!

    Go for it!

Well, considering a few things first. They don't get too big (expect 10cm), but they have REALLY big mouths. They can (and sometimes do) use this tool to devour smaller tankmates. Such behaviour also points towards their general carnivorous diet, which you can satisfy with live fish or frozen foods, preferably shrimp and fish.

As far as the tank itself goes, you'll need about a four foot or so for 2. They don't really like too much current, and don't like excessive light either. Barring that, they're nice and easy to keep.

    All the best

Schalk, just check their names against the blacklist, as some of the climbing perches are Blacklisted.

they are completely chiilled, they dont do anything.
They stay out of everyone's way , i kept mine, after getting rid of my BIG fish (predators). i then got small schooling fish - he started going for my neons... so i got rid of him.
    but they are cool!

Spotted climbing perch are Ctenopoma acutirostre, not blacklisted. I think there are some of the more Southern Ctenopoma that are, as are the 'real' climbing perches, Anabas.

Try to get some floating plants if you want to discourage jumping - although I haven't heard of them jumping before...
