    Hi everyone,
This morning I noticed a funny spot on the side of one of my fluorescent danios.
The spot wasn't there last night.
    It looks like:
    - Red spot, about blood colour,
    - Slightly raised / protruding,
    - It makes it look like a bump on its side, but not big,
    - It's almost as if you can see into it - slightly opaque,
    - Almost like a blood blister or an abscess filled with bloody fluid,

It is affecting the way the fish swims - not as energetic as usual and tail down.
Fish has not lost balance and not behaving funny otherwise.

Is it a hemorrhage? An abscess? Parasite?

Please help me identify this and whether it's treatable. Or do I have to euthanize?

    Thx

Assuming your photos aren't distorted and this isn't some sort of new "balloon danio" that I haven't heard about, it looks like she's eggbound. This happens when a female is ready to breed and produces a lot of eggs, but for some reason doesn't actually spawn. The red spot says to me that she's starting to haemorrhage inside because of this condition, and I'm afraid that I don't think she's likely to make it. You could possibly try using (non-iodised) salt or Epsom salts, I've heard that they might work for egg-binding as well as constipation which I guess this might possibly also be. Hopefully someone else will be more help...

Thx for the advice PsyXe. I'm hoping it's not the case, 'cause I'd hate to lose the poor baby.
Btw, I hav 3 of these fishes and all 3 of them look same in bodyshape.... One thing I DO know, when it comes to feeding time these babies gorge them selves. They literally don't stop. They went from 1cm almost anorexic to 2.5cm and plump/round in 2 months flat.
I've not seen fish grow this fast and so fat b4.
The rest of the tank occupents eat normal, grow normal and NOT fat at all.

Maybe the fluorescent gene they spliced in on these Danio's make 'em grow fast and eat like pigs. Who knows?

I had a thought on your salt idea. I know some people use Epsom salts (MgSO4) as a mild laxative.
So, I've isolated the fish and mixed in 1.5 tsp of Epsom slats into about 2L of tankwater.

I'll keep the fish in there overnite and see how it looks in the morning.

In 24hrs it hasn't deteriorated further. Still swims around quite energetic. I'll hold thumbs.

    Cheers

Well, problem seemed better after 1 day...
Then BOOM! Spot pops up into a transparent bubble.
Then it erupted or shrunk - I donno which 'cause I isolated the fish in a tub with tank water + a piece of floating plant and I dosed the water with: rock salt, epsom salts, a bit of rooibos extract and 1 drop of Tetra Medica.
Now the fishie seems to be healing and the spot starting to clear up, although you can see the scar of what appears to be a hemorrhage...
If the fish survives until Friday, the wound would have healed up enough and it can rejoin its tankmates.
    Let's hold thumbs once more.

Well, my coral fluorescent danio made it!
After the bubble disappeared from its side there seemed to be a bit of a cavity.
This has healed over and now there is still a bit of a tiny cavity and some missing scales. But, it's healthy and thriving. As active as the other 2 and eating well.
The spot has returned to the normal pink same as rest of body colour and one can clearly see it's no longer a wound.

I think this may have been an injury of some sort to have started off. Developed into some life-threatening issue, but with careful doctoring it's made it. Yeeeeehaaaa!

Gives a person some feeling of paternal/maternal satisfaction, doesn't it?
