Very nice, I really like the gravel gives it that river look.

Thanks! I am a bit concerened about the stones leaching into the water, but I am keeping a close eye on the pH.

Hi scaly, that is looking very nice indeed, i would just be concerned about food getting trapped in the rocks and causing some water quality problems in the long run.

The layer of Stones is not very deep. I do give it a good suck every 2 weeks. I also try not to overfeed.

But I will keep an eye on it and if I pick up problems I will look at alternatives. Thanks for the heads up.

Should be ok, all my new world tanks have pebbles larger than 2cm like that to emulate the riverbed, just vacuum it regularly. Vallisneria goes crazy in that type of substrate, I keep vallis with Oscars on beds like that and they do not uproot it.

Just chuck a few loaches or catfish in the tank to get rid of the trapped food...they are almost forever searching the tank-bottom for something to nibble on. Maybe even Mayalasian Trumpet Snails.

Re RO water, be carefull as a few aquatic plants might not survive. What is the purpose of you wanting RO water?

    Cheers

It makes it easier to maintain water parameters, and will cost less in the long run.... also i intend using it for general household consumption...you never know what comes out of the taps these days :)
