my silver aro tank was looking terible so updated the following :
    1:new center glass panel 900 x 500 8mm
2:back and left side wallls painted black
3:concrete poly gravel background added to filter side glass
    4:new silica sand added
5:two white lights removed 1 blue 1 yellow added

now I want to add just 2 tall thin grass type plants for a bit of a colour , any ideas on what ? bear in mind there are 5 10cm+ silver dollars in there anything dollar proof ?

The concrete poly-gravel looks really good. I can't think of plants which would be safe with silver dollars, except perhaps plastic plants? How large is the arowana at the moment and what do you do with him when he gets larger?

not just yet. his bark is worse than his bite when it comes to them but anything else in there with colour and its over put 3 of my pictus cats in there and he leaves them alone ,seems he doesnt like silver fish ?

i think its because the angles of the front side panes and then the sides are also not sqaure and my internal filter takes up about 15 cm but yes it is to small for him , silver arowana should be in 2.8m X1m X 1m + to be fair and thats what we are getting for xmas +_

Could be that he thinks they are his species. I had a similar problem with a red tail black shark where he only picked on black fish but left all other fish alone .

i think so as they have been together since they were small and the dollars still all hide behind him in a row if they get a scare and he does nothing.

there must be some type of plant that tastes bad to the dollars or is just tuff as nails

Looking very good! The local LFS on the Bluff has one in a MASSIVE tank, not too sure what the spec on the tank is, but it makes my 1.75m tank look like a fish bowl! And the Aro in there is HUGE!! Maybe try plastic, there are some real good looking plastic plants on the market these days, pricey, but they do look the part.

    plants + oscars = oscars
