    expensive....

make sure you check the salt/sodium content of the bottles you buy if you go down this path.

rather get a bottle of flourish excel - also pricy but as least its meant for the job

I would also recommend exel rather than the soda water.

Adding soda water to your tank is a very hit and miss opperation...not only would most of the CO2 be released by the pouring it into your tank - worst of all it will cause your pH to fluctuate wildly, placing undue stress on your fish...

Make a DIY CO2 system for about R10 or use Flourish Excel... At bout R90 a 250ml bottle will last you a loooooong time....

@Luis Could you please tell us what plants you have?? Maybe this will indicate to us if you have low light plants or not.

    FIVE BOTTLES OF CARBONATED WATER

careful with excel, don't overdo it, and follow the instructions on the bottle.

don't get it on your skin and don't breathe the fumes...

i've read this link, tried the soda water thing and almost killed all my fish. had to do serious emergency water changes, as the ph dropped drastically and this was after adding only 1 liter to a 100L tank.

i am sure the guy using it didnt have any fish in his tank so it would have worked in that case.

please guys do not use soda water in your planted tanks if you have fish in the tanks as well. if you want to use soda water rather take plants out of your tank and give them a soda water bath for a couple of hours in a seperate container if its possible. this will revitalise them for sure.

i have since moved on to using flourish exel every 2nd or 3rd day as per recommended dosage and seen real results.

in the article he did say that he was scared of the effects the sodium would have on his fish as well.. he didnt mention the effects it had on his fish so we cant assume nothing happened to his fish either :p

just be careful of what you read on the net. it may not be all the info and in some cases it may not be true at all!

DIY Co2 systems are pretty simple and good fun to build. Not expensive at all. There are numerous videos of how to create them on You Tube, and various articles on the web. Made my first one a few weeks ago, and its running well. The two bottles I use need re-working about once every two weeks.
