    Hey guys,

I haven't been on here for the past week and as such have LOTS to discuss...

    a) I have a breakout of algae that is ruining the look of my rocks. Only grows on the horisontal levels, dark brown spots resembling rust. Not sure if it's diatoms.
    b) My pH pen finally arrived from China, and I was surprized to see that my pH is a bit high at 8.3. Need to drop that a bit...
    c) My dwarf gourami kicked the bucket after a week in my tank, but danio, whitecloud and JD are doing fine? Odd?

So tonight is water change time. After that, I'll measure the pH again, add some algaecide and see how things go this week.

    Stay golden.

    Shibby.

Which algaecide are you going with? Check it to make sure it isn't going to kill your plants.

Chat to the Prof about pH Pens... they are not the most accurate instruments, and they need to be callobrated before you can trust it's reading.

I'll probably add something like pondclear at first, and see how that goes...

I know, they have to be calibrated every now and then. Still, helluva lot cheaper than those test kits!

Pond clear will kill plants. Active ingredient is weedkiller... which is a plant killer.

    Thanks Zoom!

But, I literally have one little plant in the corner of my tank, which is not doing too well in any case seeing as my fish enjoy nibbling on it...

I know tetra had a product called algamin or something like that, maybe read up on it. Never used it myself.
