mine never jumped , perhaps only when catching them but if they can spit ,spit they will i think they know the confines of the tank they are hell of a inteligent fish
i can hold a lit cigarette over my tank and move it around and they will spit just the cherry clean off ,cool party trick ,

    Stake dwarf claims!

Nice size , should work well.
Just alot more territories to be marked out....use smaller pieces of wood, some broken or small plantpots, bits of slates some smooth pebbles and of course lotsa PLANTS!!!

BTW what do you plan doing with your Texas cichlids?

Deport them back to 'States' coz they here as illegal aliens..

Another option would be wood with plants attached,500 cardinals,100 lemon tets,100 colombian and emperor tets.sum bristle nose or ottos if u hav softleave plants, corries and dwarf cichlids for the bottom, and some months later angels and maybe some red and boesmani rainbows.stay open top with maybe MH

They will be going back to the LFS.
They were marked wrongly in the tank they were in.My wife bought them thinking they were some other cichlids.

Sounds tempting.Definitely going MH.Will be getting some aluminium over the weekend to fashion a bracket for the lights.

Plants are awesome, this tank is going to be really great once you spend some time on it. I was recently browsing the nurseries looking for large floating and water plants for my 6ft. There seems to be a lack of water plants. Your tank has now re-inspired me so I'm going to be on the lookout for plants again. What is the dimensions of your tank and how thick is the glass.

Nice set up dude. I love the scaping.

Tell me... what are those white thingy-majobby's you have stuck at the back of your tank... the half dome tings?

And is that tank running and that small sump below it (to the left of pic 1)? I that sump not a little small. I only ask because I have a small 1foot (15litre) that I'm thinking of converting into a sump... just not sure on what the minimum sizes are that is required.?

Very nice, looks like you have quite a few tanks in that room! Very nice indeed! LOL @ buying your wife a car to let you keep your tanks!

Was also wondering what the white thingy majobbys are!

    Tank specs are as follows:
Kind:Freshwater Material:Glass Shape:Rectangular Substrate:3.0 deep Gravel Internal Volume:360 litres External Volume:372 litres Surface Area:8100 cm squared Water Depth:39 cm Water Volume:305 litres Weight of Water:305 kg Empty Weight:32 kg Total Tank Weight:337 kg Evaportaion:Level Drop:10 cm Pressure:430 kg / sq meter Light Drop:32% reaching bottom Light Needed:320 Watts Water Flow:400 litres/hour Heater Size:400 Watts

Those white thingies is Porridge bowls that i cut with an angle grinder to have an opening at the bottom and is glued to the glass.Maybe some of the cichlids will breed in there.
I use hangon filters and 1 powerfilter.Going to get another hangon.

Yes the glass is 6mm sides and 10mm bottom Dolphin.

I also plan on getting a waterlily or two in there. At Persequor Park opposite the CSIR is a very small damn(Large pond) with some nice waterlilies.
