SILVER AROWANA not eating

hey hey
my biggest silver has not eatin in nearly 2 weeks he normaly eats like mad
tried his normal hikari sticks ,el cheapo sticks ,blood worms, ox heart the only thing he has had is a goldfish on sunday.any ideas why or what to give him....could it be because i put the the 2 archers in his tank while im fixing there tank ?

I don't know what is wrong with the Arowana but dude it looks like an awesome fish

 

thanks man. Problem solved. Believe it or not it was the light. Ive been running just the one light as compared to the normal 4 to try get rid of the algi .put all the lights on for the vid and hey presto he tried to eat a silver dollar and a archer popped in a big fat goldfish and it was gone in seconds. I think he was just used to the bright lights ?

 

that is funny I would of thought that he would of eaten when the lights are off.
but at least you have solved the problem....

 

go figure... Lets hope. I think my arowana is just as f̈d up as i am...

 

I thought it would be like a Clown knife fish that hunts at night and not during the day but hey not all fish are the same hey and thank goodness for that....hehe

 

probably couldnt see the prey well enough with the fishy-eye shades he's developed over the years of friggin bright lights

 

Hi guys im new... have you tried feeding with the lights off.
ive got two arows and two clown knifes in one tank and only seem to eat when lights are off

 

My clown knife also eats with the lights off or if it is a dim light

 

All my clown knives eat in the daylight - its only my African knifefish that eats when the lights are off. Try coaxing them into eating during the day with some oily fish - such as bait sardine. Should work.

i think our fish are as diverse as we are and become acustom to our feeding habits my archers only eat in low light as from young there tanks outside lights have always been on to get insects on the ceiling above them but my arowana will only eat if the lights are on but however he will go on hunger strikes every now and agian refusing to eat anything.this week he is fine thanks to the rain he has had 3 parktown prawns 2 big rain spiders a geko and his usual hikari sticks
