Silica/water marks..help ANYONE

    Hi i just inherited another five foot tank from a mate that shut down his marine system..sad for him as his moving but yeay for me cos i also got tons of equipment at the best price FREE..wonder if i can use the protien skimmer in my discus tank ?..anyway i digress..the tank has alot of what looks like water/silica run marks across the face of the tank..so im wondering ..does anyone of you BOFFINS perhaps know how to get this off...Please anyone that knows how to rid this problem please help thanx ..

    Just some simple vinegar should do the trick, o and some elbow grease.
    Great getting all of this free.

    Thanx Vis gonna try now will give ya feedback now now...yeah awesome wrt to the equipment..im putting my large Frontosa's into the tank as they showing spawning behavior...anyhow of to grease the elbow lol

    You may have to apply more then once because the marks reappear when dry, but you will see that a lot are permanently gone.

    Also ensure you rinse VERY VERY well after cleaning with vinager.

    Oh, and toss the protein skimmer. You do get fresh water skimmers, but a Marine one won't work on FW.

    thanx Vis your advice worked machine...Zoom do you seriously get freshwater protien skimmers i honestly did not know that ...and i would never toss any eqiupment cos someone somewhere sometime will need it and WALLA..anyway thanx for the advice guys the tank is looking awesome...will post pics once the fronts are in...

    Well, I didn't mean toss is away as in literally toss it...

    sell it, give it... but don't keep it.

    zoom means its of no use, don't try use it.
    what you can also do is mix some vinegar in a bucket of warm water and wipe the tank down with that. then rub it down after with clean warm water .
