    hello all

so had a huge break in my tank about a month ago and now its all fixed but was going to rescape and maybe do something different, so i was thinking of doing a planted tank with Rams (all different types) ,Kribs, shrimp and Neons would this work and also what would you suggested for a surface fish i want it too look "pretty" haha and since ive noticed that Plattys all types tend to eat all moss and fine ground cover i cant have them, would it be ok to keep my bango catfish in there as well? and the loaches and corrys ? just need some ideas so i can get started come month end

If you keep a single sex of the rams and kribs, it may work. But if you keep pairs, you'll have a HUGE fight on your hands. They all get very territorial when they breed and they breed often. I have a pair of Kribs in my tropical community tank and they rule the roost, especially when they breed and so far, that's every 2-3 weeks; they've yet to successfully raise a brood.

For surface fish, you can try some white clouds perhaps? I have a mini school of 8 of them. They hang in the upper regions of the tank and spend alot of time playing in the current across the top of the tank. They swim into it, then float back, then swim again. Quite fun to watch. They also love showing off to eachother and it's quite spectacular watching them display their fins.

One thing I can say to avoid with the kribs at all costs, are male siamese fighters. The female kribs in particular hate the fighters. I bought a lovely male fighter last week. My female kribs chased him a bit, so I figured she was just showing him who's boss. The next morning, when I checked them, the kribs had literally shredded the fighter's fins to pieces and he died about an hour later. So avoid big-finned fish with the kribs. They generally peaceful with most other species though.

The banjo cats won't be an issue with the kribs and rams. The neons should be fine too, provided they're in a shoal of at least 10 or so.

rams, apistos and cribs are semi aggressive so if its a big tanj with lots of territories you can maybe keep 2 or maybe 3 pairs
