Pump lph rating means squat. It depends on how high water has to be pumped and how many elbows/restrictions there are.

For something as big as a 2.5, i'g go 5ft or there abouts. But thats me

Kathie, thanks for the advise. I am still far from setting up my 2.5m tank though (see my "wall tank" thread). I also have a 180l tank that I may throw into the mix for filtration, but will see how things work out closer towards the time.

    Fair comment

It really has cleared up beautifully.
How are the fish treating the plants so far?

Yes you can keep plants with malawis but you either place plants at the sides or corners of tank. Cause if the plants are in front they break the leaves whenever they fight. I lost a lot of leaves cause of them fighting. My 2cents.

Kathie, your tank is looking AWSOME!! I love the look of the pool silica with the plants. I have Malawians but have never been brave enough to put any in, seeing this I will definately put some in when I re-setup the tank at the new house. Do you know what is the name of the plant that grows on wood? I hear that is a pretty hardy plant as well as the Java Ferns.

Kathie, in the 3rd pic, on the right hand side there is 2 fishies one above the other, a yellow one and a dark blue one... What ID info do you have on the blue one?
