Well it's the start of a new season and also the time of the year when some flowering plants strutt their stuff in a show of beautiful colour. So I thought in addition to the gardening thread why not start a thread for everyone to share pics of their flowering plants in bloom.
Although it isn't technically spring yet as per the southern hemisphere Spring equinox, which is exactly at 22 September at 22:44 local time, when the sun rises exactly East and sets exactly West.
but anyway here are some pic's to start of with.

First of the Arum lily flowers in the goldfish pond's veggie filter .

    Lavender, not sure what type?
    DSC00381.jpg
Aalwyn / Aloe, again not sure of the species?

Saw a black-coloured humming bird sitting on these flowers, and the Cape White-Eye also seems fond of them.

    Very nice, especially the Aloes.
I am a big fan of them. I have loads of miniatures in my greenhouse.

If it looks like this picture, its a male Amethyst sunbird. You do not get any other black colored sunbirds around in SA. Good aloe BTW

Thanx Joubert, unfortunately the pic isn't working. I googled male Amethyst sunbird / Swartsuikerbekkie and it looks about the same. Although I didn't see any purple colouring on the throut, so maybe it is immature.
Do you know if it is a common bird in the Northen Cape?
