Sexing a flowerhorn

Hi TASA.
I’m not sure if I’m in the correct thread, let me know if I’m not and I’ll change it.

So my boyfriend saw a Flowerhorn and wanted one and now after a week he wants another one of the opposite sex. I’ve tried sexing him/her but really don’t know how since I’m more into the smaller fish. If anyone can tell me if this is a male or female that would be amazing.
Please excuse the poop in the pictures, he is a poop machine… We cleaned the tank yesterday morning and will probably need to clean it again tomorrow. Also, this is just a quarantine tank and we do have a 4ft currently cycling and are already getting prices to upgrade the tank if needed especially if we get another one.

@scotty_88 @Shabir thank you!! Shabir I’ve seen some females have large humps as well so didn’t want to base the decision just on that. Especially since the other Flowerhorn in the store had a hump probably twice the size. We chose him more based on colour and his personality since we weren’t too concerned with hump size even though that’s what people usually go after.

 

@Reedfish @Shabir @scotty_88 So turns out this male is actually a really good quality female. We have eggs!!! I’m glad we didn’t go on a hunt for a female, now we just need to find a good quality male for her!
