    Good morning all,
I need some help on my sump downpipe. It seems where the bulkhead is screwed into the tank there isn’t a proper seal and there is a very slow seep/weep down the pipe into the sump. I think the only reason I can see it now is due to the tannins in the palm fibre making it brown.
So what I need to know is – how do I seal it? Would epoxy work?

I'm not 100% sure if I understand correctly... but from my understanding an epoxy will work. The standard pratley's putty, (although I hate the stuff) is probably the best bet, because it can actually dry in wet conditions. I'm assuming you know that once it is sealed, you will NEVER gain access there again?

I know of a product called "Coprox" and they make a wide variety of stuff for the building industry. They have something that can be used to plug holes UNDERWATER... not sure if this would be effective, or the availability of it. The Pratleys will be much easier to get I think.

Are you able to post a pic?

Well i am going to put my 2 cents in here , use regular window putty. I often use it to seal plumbing , it drys with water and it will come apart if u ever deside to undo it unlike pratleys putty

Henk i think the window putty is going to be your best bet, i would have sugested pratley and would never have thought of this.

the window putty will defnitley seal it AND the major positive part is it will be romoveable with a screwdriver or putty knife in future.

the grey "liquid" steel putty in the tubes will also work excelent but will be less removeable in future, further more silicone can also be used because the leak is not a presure leak and only a sepage and silicone can also be removed.

my choice: window putty 1st and 2nd silicone

window putty is also excelent to seal toilet rings at the bottom

+1. Gasket on the inside, go to town with silicone on the outside. Leave for a day to cure

Is the PVC join (ie pipe, bulkhead and union) on the bulkhead 100%?

there is a gasket in place - this tank has been setup for 2 years....

those of you with marine tanks will understand this - it looks like salt creep.... its not wet but just moist
