I bought some moss from my lfs and seems that i got some more than moss, i saw floatting at the top of my one tank these two leafed plants and i googled and found the exact same thing.

Now can someone tell me more about it bad or ok?

    Thanks

If you have positively ID'd them as duckweed... It depends...

If you have high nitrates and want them removed good...

If you don't want your tank instantly filled with it and blocking the lights to penetrate to your plants and growing like a weed.... Then its bad.

@nodac, it also blocks your filters if not controlled so really be careful it is highly invasive.

depending on what type of filter you have that is. @nodac you should be able to get some for any petshop that deals with ponds as they are often found on top of ponds just like ducks (duck weed) lol

+1 don't flush them down the drain or let them somehow get into a local river, dam or pond.

Isn't it native in South Africa? Have this mess in all my tanks in Holland.

Sho! Ducks would be drooling if they saw that  hahaha.
Don't want to derail the thread too much, but how often do you clean out all the duckweed before it regrow's to that @DoubleDutch?

Actually duckweed is now considered an endemic species here.

Best way to get rid of it is to keep removing it manually, or get fish that eat it. You just have to keep at it. It's a real pain in the youknowwhat to get rid of.

Really, where did you hear this?

Found this link, and looks like duckweed is distributed world-wide and can be found on all continents except Antarctica.
They speculate that Lemna minor might be native to North America.
