I'm seeking compatible tank mats for my fish (see signature). I have a 200gal planted tank (vallesneria). All the fish are between the range of 7cm to 11cm.
I don't want fish to eat my plants. Please advise.

    Hi Asgar

Mmm not sure what else to add, but I have to question the puffer as they are actually brackish fish and will require higher salinity levels as the fish grow older...

Did you ever consider a school of Altums...

    Cheers

    Vince

Vince, as far as I know the figure 8 puffers are freshwater puffers but can tolerate brackish water as well.

plus the puffer is aggressive and will attack your other fish
puffers should be kept in a species only tank

Asgar, I must agree with the others... the figure eight puffer is not ideally suited to a community setup and will most likely nip/bite his tank mates.

How big is the Altum angel? Can you post a pic of him.

Perhaps consider a school of rainbows that you might like. Also consider loaches, largish congo tetras, black ghost knifefish and bala sharks.

hee hee did not recommend, just asked if it was considered....you have got to aim for something... ;)

re the fig 8 puffer... well I stand corrected, but there are many conflicting views on different websites. What I gather from them is that they live in fresh water but spawn in brackish? I guess that is why this is called a forum. Thanks!

The Altums Angel is one of my largest fish about 8-9cm in length and width.I know the Figure 8 puffer gets a bit nippy. Will it be Problem if kept with more Altums angel? I already have an altums angel and there doesnt seem to be a problem. However I guess more slow movers in the tank will entice the puffer to be nippy.

From my experience Altums angels seem to be much hardier than other species of angels.

altums cost a fortune, they are not avialible in the trade, they die if not kept in 100% right conditions. What you DO get in the trade is normal, common angels that gets sold as altums. its usually P. Scalare from the Rio Negro

A - Getting an Altum is very difficult
B - Getting an Altum alive and well at your doorstep is more difficult
C - Keeping it alive is uber difficult
