Seachem tidal 110

Hi there

I was looking at getting 2 x Seachem Tidal 110s for my 300l tank, I just want to find out if its better the the aqua clear 110 or not?

 

I use a Tidal 55 on a 90cm tank, and find it works well.
I don't have any experience with the Aqua Clear as I have Cascade HOBs on all my filters.

My impressions:
The Tidal has to be cleaned more regularly than the other filters. This is easy though, with the removable basket.
I added more Matrix, as the amount it came with is insufficient.
I added extra sponge that I cut to size to assist with trapping finer dirt.
The water flow becomes a bit noisy if the water level drops under the spout. The filter itself though is totally silent.
I like the self priming feature.
The skimmer portion can't be switched off, and the valve controlling the suction can be a bit loose out of the box. To fix you just press firmly against it.

My 120cm has bracing all around the sides, which limits the filtration options, but if yours doesn't have that, I don't see why you can't use the Tidal.
They work well.
I would still invest in a canister filter however, particularly on tanks 1.2m and up.

 

I also like the self priming feature of this product, I have cannister filters wanted to ditch them actually and get 2 110 for the 300litre
