    Hi Guys

Any of you used this product before for weekly maintanance on tanks. I used to use the Nutrafin Cycle and was told to try the Stability.

Here is my question, since i have been using this i have had a lot of fish deaths mainly in my juvenile Malawi's,and i have used it as prescribed on the bottle no more and no less per Lt of water.
Why would this happen as i lost a complete tank of about 300 juveniles over night and a few a day since using this product. So please let me know if anyone has experienced this issue.

    Yo!

I've never had that problem before! What are your water parameters currently? Ph, Gh, Kh, No2, No3, Po4? Temp?

Perhaps @Seachem can help with this query?

The tank may be over stocked? How much water did you change before you lost all the fish? Did you wash out the filter? Stability will not kill fish

    hi

did about a 3rd of tank water change and the filters was washed out in some of the tanks water in a seperate bucket, the weard thing is just that with the Nutrafin i never had any problems only after adding the stability and the fish have been fine for over 8 months until now ,they are spread over 6 tanks each with seperate filter system not combined.

Sounds like a water quality issue....ive had the same problem with my fry, I just use prime, all I did is increase my filtration, as I had 100 + fry in a 2 and 3 foot...problem solved. SO it was a water quality issue, as that time I went to prime and thought it was prime. Best is just to do your tests as @Sean J suggested, that will take all the guess work out your sudden deaths. Good luck!

Im just reading your second post again @lydod and once again, I had the same thing, for almost 2 years my fry was fine, and suddenly....deaths, thats why I blamed the prime, as that time I changed to prime. SO I think the "just because its allways worked doesnt mean it will work again" I think water stability in our areas where we stay plays a big role here...and since I have increased my filtration in my breeding tanks, ive lost only 3 fish, and that is because they jumped out the water and thought they are amphibian...haha

I have to agree with Hennie here, I have been using stability since I started my tanks. It does sound like a water quality issue, we forget that even though the fry are small they still pollute the water as well as the food we give them. So yea I would look into that first.

Have you checked the expiry date on the bottle? I have been using stability for a year now and never had problems. I dose my new water for WC's and occasionaly the entire tank volume with no hassles.

    What dechlorinator are you using?

Emptying all your tanks and cleaning all your filters may not be such a good idea, unless you are suspecting disease or parasites, etc. You will basically reset the biological filtration on all the tanks. And if you start up and run the tanks without any fish, the tanks will basically never cycle, unless you plan on doing fishless cycling with ammonia or food, etc.

If you start a new tank using stability, the best is to start with a few small fish and dose stability for the first week. I have done this multiple times and as long as you introduce new fish very slowly, you won't have any problems.

So I would think twice before I empty all the tanks. Could you not rather divide the fish up so that each tank will carry a lighter bioload, only until things settle down and you stop losing livestock.

What are the size of the tanks and how many fish are you keeping in each tanks. As well, what filtration do you have in each tank?
