Sea sand for substrate

    Hi guys, does anybody have sea sand in a fresh water tank for substrate ?

    I know of quite a few fish keepers that use play sand

    Sea sand is usually too alkaline. Most people use silica sand (pool filter sand) or playsand like reedfish said. They're inert :)

    I've used it for years with no issue. One was an African cichlid tank and the other an Oscar tank. I just washed it till the water stopped foaming and then tasted till the water didn't taste salty
