In school we had to learn how to polish glass and perspex until there is no scratches.
Lots and lots of time and elbow grease and Brasso.

Mmmmm, hated that so i'll rather replace.
You also might get a magnifying glass effect.

I was just talking about this to my friend. I'm sure if you use an electric polisher with the right wax, the scratches can be made less visible.

Meguiare's makes a glass polish that really works. Its meant for the automotive world, but I'm sure it'll be fine on tank glass aswell.

We should be asking ourselves, "What is the cause"

I think its the gravel that makes the scratches. I bought a 3ft and only saw it in the dark until I came home and saw that it was scratched on the inside and outside. :(

Removing gravel/sand against the glass can cause this.

I don't think there is a way to rid glass of scratches 100%.

Cerium oxide is the only thing that will truly remove scratches, Wet sand the deep parts of the scratch with wet sand paper using higher and higher grits, then use cerium oxide powder mixed with a little water with a leather buffing mop on a buffing machine to buff the fine sanding marks out.

It will be cheaper and easier to just replace the scratched panel of glass on a medium to small tank though. Glass only, not tempered glass and not Acrylic. I want to do it on my AquaH2O curved edges tank, but its too much mission and costly so I haven't got around to doing it yet.

PS: this is a empty tank and take it outside on the lawn and hire a buffing machine job, cerium oxide is about R200/kg.
