Throw blankets over the tanks and bump up the temp when the power is still on to keep the heat in the tanks. I did this last winter when our power was out for 5 days, and all my fish made it.

When we have power failures, the tank water temp drops very slowly. This is fine no worries. Yes get yourself a battery operated airpump. The bigger the tank the more stable everything is. Oxygen last a couple of hours. Good luck.

The battery powered air pump and air stone is a must. as the bubbles break the surface of your tank water, you will be oxygenating your water. This is what you want, there will also be a slow circulation in your tank from the bubbles moving upward. Make sure the airline from the pump reaches the substrate. That way the oxygen exchange at the surface will be wide-spread and the bubble induced current a little better than just a few cm under the water surface..

I think the biggest problem will be keeping your filter bacteria alive.:frown:

Don't worry too much about the filter bacteria, remember that the same bacteria will have coated everything in the tank... Substrate, walls, hardscape, plants etc. as long as you keep the batt powered air pump on and there is an oxygen exchange going on as well as a bit of movement from the rising bubbles, the bacteria in your tank will be alive and happy. Within half an hour of your power coming back on, the tank bacteria will be re-colonizing the filter. Even if the filter bacteria started dying off, the new bacteria will use any dead bacteria as food... Within 24 hours, your system should be back to normal.
We were without power for three days last winter... Batt air pump and a couple of duvets did the trick on all my tanks... No deaths at all! If it is only for six hours, I'd recommend not feeding. You can feed the next day. (24hrs) that way, you'll avoid any excess food rotting at the bottom, fouling your water.

IMO don't feed them prior to the power cut that day, if your pumps aren't running. I use an ups to power the pump or at least one small pump so that the filter has some movement and i attach an air stone to that ups as well.
