    What is the fish you are the most afraid of? And yes, it must be a fish type you must be able to keep in your tank.

    I am just scared for my 2 Oscars. They are so nice and friendly, you can stroketheir backs, you can scratch their heads and they are always happy to see you.But be aware, don't show your finger to them and sure as hell, don’t try toclean their tank. The moment when you stick a vacuum in the tank to clean thegravel, the female Oscar become like a gremlin. She will fight and bite thevacuum and go mad, if nothing happen and you keep on cleaning, she will go foryour hand and bite the living hell out of you. Then you don’t stick your handinside the tank, then you will get it. I am so tired of getting bitten by thatfemale Oscar. I think I must swop her for a friendly piranha. Maybe they don’tbite that sore.

    Haha, sounds like a betta I used to have. As soon as my finger went in that tank, he'd flare up and eventually bite it, especially if it was in/around his bubble nest. Poor little guy. Of course, a betta bite doesn't hurt, wheras I can imagine an Oscar bite would XD After seeing what a bichir's teeth look like, I guess they'd have to be the fish I have the most respect for in any of my tanks, but fortunately they aren't aggressive ^^;

    My mudskipper drew blood from me once during when an unfortunate hand-feeding incident turned into a literal hand-feeding accident :weird:

    Needless to say, I just dropped the food in from then on.

    I'm afraid of my plecos. I've never really seen one hurt anyone but I know they have spikes on the sides that they can spread out when they are bothered. Moving them to another tank Sucks!

    @Franna, I've got 2 pleco's in my tank and I've seen those spikes. My one pleco is very tame but if he don't wanna get scratch on the underside he will try to splash all the water out.

    The female oscar became a real monster. If you stick your finger or hand in the tank she will come and investigate,then try to posh your hand out of the water, if you don't take your hand out, she will bite you badly. She is planning to lay eggs and that is why she is so agro.

    Ever need to move a large Pleco? Here's the trick....

    Nets are useless because of the bodyarmour/spikes.... gently coax Pleco into corner and fast as lightning grip him on the head,just before the 2 pectoral fins with one hand. Mr.Pleco curls his body into a "C" shape and goes rigid.... you can then just pick him up and move him to where you want....he,he

    Only fish I'm "scared" of is the marine Lionfish....after being stung twice in my life allready .... Not pleasant - it's like dipping your hand into molten lead....

    I've never dipped my hand into molten lead - LOL :blink: And I've also never been gummed by a goldfish. I clearly have not been keeping fish long enough.

    My son's Oscars are quite scary - they're not too agressive but If you aren't fast enough with their food they come and fetch it.

    Black Ghost Knife, I feed him by hand every two or three days or so.

    One night I was arm pit deep in the tank and he decided to take a nasty nip at my finger.

    and I just added two green terrors to the tank .. I think I am in for harsh feeding times

    I got bitten again this weekend by my female oscar. It feels better to hit your finger with a hammer than to get a bite from her. She got me badly this time, except for the hard bite, she got me to bleed. She is a bad girl.

    Eish .. fresh wound in tank ... keep an eye our for ... (think this was a house case)

    and

    [h=2]Vibrio[/h]
    • The bacteria strains Vibrio alginolyticus and Vibrio damsela may infect open wounds that contact aquarium water. Rarely, these may spread to other systems and cause serious complications. Aquarists may also contract two other strains--Vibrio vulnificus (systemic, wound and gastroenteritis infections) and Vibrio parahaemolyticus (wound and gastroenteritis infections)--after accidentally ingesting aquarium water.

    @Stalker why not invest in a leather glove instead. But be sure to soak it before hand to remove excess tannins. It will get stiff but might save the fingers.

    As for a fish I'm scared of, hmmm. Let me think that through a bit more.

    I heard that those fish have poisonous and if they stung you, you need to go to hospital for treatment. Is it true????
