Nice. I had one for a few years and never really saw him. The past few weeks it actually came out a lot, even with lights on.

They are easy to train to come out during day time and eat.

I had 2 or 3 of these a few years back, made trying to clean the gravel rather difficult since my ones burrowed into the ground. But unfortunately they all got back problems and either twisted up or couldn’t swim, thus died... but I’m sure your will survive.

Nothing but other large fish can be kept with oscars.

how would i go about training them to come out at feeding time?

my betta took 1 look at the loach and then decided that it was indeed tasty, but the loach realised he was in trouble and found a cave real fast!!

the betta gets along fine with the guppies so im hoping he will learn that the loaches are not food and WAAAY faster than he is so there is no point in even trying.

try feeding in an open area in the mornings instead of at night. and providing alot of cover for them to get to if needed. the more hiding places available the more secure they'll feel and the more they'll come out. the fact that you have more than 2 should help aswell since they more secure in groups aswell.

Thanks @Henk - FYI - I am currently keeping a Oscar, 1 x Malawi, 1 x Jack Dempsey, 1 x Golden Deacon, 1 x Severum and 1 x Red Parrot togther. They seem to be happy living together.

    I have had these.
    Very nice.

The trick is to have as many of them as possible.
And also, plenty of hiding places.
With the above to aspects, if you follow these, they will feel more confident and come out more.
